A couple from Holland joined us as part of their tour with Wineflies for our Stellenbosch Horse Riding experience in a 240ha wildlife sanctuary. The giraffe family were as obliging as ever for an up-close encounter, with the young baby becoming more curious of the horses and not hiding behind mom as much as before.
We started out on a sunny, wind-free morning and passed the cows resting alongside the dam. Into the sanctuary for a sighting of not one, but two fish eagle keeping an eye on the land below from a tree top perch. Springbuck abounded all around and as we rounded the first clump of trees, we spotted a lazing tortoise using a tree stump for shade.
